Concrete and reinstatement

Breakout and reinstatement of footpaths, kerbs, paving and driveways after utility works. We measure every reinstatement and photograph it from opening to finished surface, so the quantities can be checked.

Scope

Work included

  • Saw-cutting and breakout of concrete, tarmac and paving
  • Concrete footpath and bay reinstatement
  • Kerbs and tactile paving
  • Block and modular paving
  • Tarmac driveways and temporary tar surfacing

Where customers use it

  • Concrete reinstatement after water-network excavations.
  • Footpath and driveway reinstatement on public lighting and fibre programmes.
  • Contracts where reinstatement is measured and paid by area and surface type.

Interfaces

Scope boundaries

  • Reinstatement follows the road authority’s specification and the conditions of the road-opening licence for each opening.
  • Where the permanent finish follows later, temporary surfacing keeps the footpath or road usable in the meantime.
  • The extent of each reinstatement is agreed on site before breakout, so the measured area matches what was agreed.

Delivery

How we deliver it

  1. Pre-existing condition and any existing damage are photographed before breakout.

  2. Backfill compaction is checked with a Clegg impact tester, and the reading is photographed.

  3. Cracked or failed reinstatements are recorded against the location, put right and photographed again.
